Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"The chicken don is very nice. The angus beef slices is super good. you can choose medium or done. i went for medium. The matcha ice cream with toast also very nice"
"The food here is fantastic! I loved every dish on the menu! My favorite was definitely the Angus Don, which was incredibly delicious and had such a rich, mouthwatering aroma from the beef. (Can choose the Doneness of Meat) I picked Medium Rare. The shop isn’t very big but can seat quite a few people. It’s usually busy every day with long queues, but it’s worth the wait. You can order either at the kiosk or directly with the staff. The space is best suited for 1–2 people since most of the tables are small, though there are a few larger tables available too. The staff are extremely polite, helpful, and great at recommending dishes. Cutlery, sauces, and drinks are self-service from the central bar area. Overall, Dopa Donburi offers top-quality food, great service, and an enjoyable dining experience, highly recommended! This Restaurant is kid-friendly: Kid Menu Offered."
"My go-to spot in Sydney—easily the restaurant I’ve dined at the most! Their wagyu don is an absolute favorite, and the new Flamin Karaage Don is incredible: the chicken’s crispy outside, tender inside, and packed with rich, spicy flavor. I could eat this every single day and never get tired of it!"
"Had the Angus Beef Soba Salad and it was very very delicious! The beef just melts in your mouth! It was a very decent portion serve, too. Will definitely be back here."
"It’s good to avoid peak dining hours. We ordered eel rice at 6 p.m. yesterday, and our child got a fish bone from the eel stuck in their throat. The staff were very kind—they provided extra rice, dumplings, and drinks, and also offered a refund. Their service was proactive and highly professional. We went to the emergency department at 10 p.m. and didn’t get home until 7 a.m., though the fish bone was not removed. This is not a complaint. We hope that in the future, before serving food, measures can be taken so that no child will be troubled by fish bone issues, ensuring a better dining experience for all."
"A chill and tasty lunch at Dopa Doburi at Regent Square near Town Hall. You need to order via the two touch screens outside. If you want to dine in, take a buzzer then wait to be taken to a seat. You need to pickup your drinks and food from the counters. We ordered a Pork Katsu Don ($19.90) and Chicken Don ($16) with substitute of scrambled egg (surcharge). Service was fast. Portions large and food very tasty and satisfying. Pork was tender and juicy, seaweed salad was fresh. Tonkatsu sauce (Bulldog brand) provided in two foil sachets. Condiments bar with all the sauces and oils you need (no furikake though). Low noise and relaxed dining environment. Friendly staff. Worth a look for an upgrade from a food court lunch."
"I Highly recommend. The chicken was hot, and covered in sause, the egg was cooked to perfection, and the whole dish seemed to work together to create a sensational, amazing and balanced flavor in each bite. We ordered, sat down, begun to talk and the buzzer already went off, not even ~5 minutes! I highly advise this, and will come here next time I venture to Sydney."
"Super authentic and yum Japanese food. Been a few times and the food was consistent each time. Place is very small is the only downside and to be aware of."
